Year 6 visit to Enniskillen Castle
As part of our World Around Us topic on ‘The Vikings – Raiders or Traders?’ Year Six visited the museum in Enniskillen Castle. The pupils were involved in a carousel of activities which helped reinforce classroom learning about Viking life. First, they learned about a Viking longhouse and investigated Viking food, clothing and social hierarchy.
Next, they undertook an archaeological dig, uncovering Viking artefacts and found out about the people who once owned them.
Finally, the children got the opportunity to design and produce brooches in the style of the Vikings.
The boys and girls had a fantastic day, learning a tremendous amount about various aspects of life in Viking times.
Many thanks to Catherine, Julian and Martina and all the staff of Enniskillen Castle for a brilliant day.
