As part of our World Around Us topic on ‘The Vikings – Raiders or Traders?’ Year Six recently visited Enniskillen Castle. The children participated in three different workshops. They learned about a Viking longhouse and investigated Viking food, clothing and social hierarchy.
They also undertook an archaeological dig, uncovering Viking artefacts and found out about the people who once owned them.
Finally, the children got the opportunity to design and produce brooches in the style of the Vikings.
The boys and girls had a marvellous day, learning a tremendous amount about various aspects of life in Viking times.
