Tyrone Cup
Thursday 22 June saw the final of the annual Tyrone Cup played in Garvaghey. This competition is specifically for our schools with large enrolment figures. That being so, four schools lined-out to do battle. They were: Primate Dixon P.S. Coalisland, St. Conor's P.S. Omagh, Holy Trinity P.S. Cookstown and St. Patrick's P.S. Dungannon.
The three teams played a round-robin series of matches against each other. The level of skill on display was a joy to behold and showcased all that is good about Gaelic Football in our primary schools. This is due to the hard work of our pupils, teachers, clubs, parents and coaches in the Red Hand county.
There wasn't a great deal to separate the finalists but, ultimately, it was the lads from Omagh who collected the silverware for 2017. Master Niall McQuaid (Tyrone Coaching & Games Committee) kindly presented the gold county medals to the victors, and Masters Liam Grugan and Paul Logue had masterminded another trophy triumph. Rumours abound that there'll be no homework tonight...
