The Grange Dental Care Millennium Cup and Shield hosted by St Conor’s PS Omagh

9th May 2017

The Grange Dental Care Millennium Cup and Shield “Boys’ Gaelic Football 7-a-side”competition took place recently at St Conor’s PS.

Eight Primary schools from in and around the Omagh area entered teams which produced a tremendously high level of skill and ability from all involved. The event was organised by Mr. Liam Grugan from St Conor’s PS.

The format of the day’s play was based on two sections (1 & 2) of four teams. Section ‘1’ had St Conor’s PS Omagh, St Joseph’s PS Drumquin , St Lawrence’s PS Fintona and Sacred Heart PS Tattyreagh. Section ‘2’ consisted of Holy Family PS Omagh, St Mary’s PS Killyclogher , Omagh Integrated PS and Drumlish PS.

After a morning of ‘round robin’ matches within each section and a series of semi finals, Holy Family PS and St Conor’s PS qualified for the Millennium Cup Final. The Integrated PS and St Lawrence’s Fintona qualified for the Grange Dental Care Shield Final. In the Shield final The Integrated PS emerged victorious against a gallant St Lawrence’s. Later in a thrilling Millennium Cup final, a determined St Conor’s defeated a courageous Holy Family.

Mr. Paul Grugan, on behalf of the The Grange Dental Care, presented both Cup and Shield finalists with their awards.

St Conors would like to thank The Grange Dental Care for sponsoring the Millennium Cup and Shield. A special word of thanks is extended to Mr. Michael Mc Carron for his expert refereeing throughout the competition.
