Cumann na mBunscoil Girls Football Finals
St Conors girls Gaelic footballers competed in the girls county final in MUSA Cookstown on March 12th 2020. To qualify the girls played their heat on March 5th in the station centre Omagh. They beat Christ the King, St Mary's Strabane and St Patrick's Castlederg to qualify, topping their group. St Conors then met Holy Family in the semi-final, being successful they qualified to play St Dympnas, Dromore in the final. Victory over Dromore left the girls unbeaten in their 5 games and thus qualify for the county finals. The girls were placed in a group of 5 with Brocagh, Laghey, Carrickmore and Loughmacrory. They emerged top of their group having defeated all 4 teams, St Conors came up against a strong Drumduff side, whose boys’ team are current county champions. The girls unfortunately fell to a one-point defeat on a score line of 1-0 to 0-2. A remarkable achievement in that the girls had won 9 games on the bounce and only lost the 10th by 1 point. well done girls, to be placed as joint third out of 75 schools is superb.
