Conall Mc Crory Cup and St. Conor's Girls Shield
Conall Mc Crory Cup and St. Conor’s Girls Shield hosted by St Conor’s PS Omagh
The annual Conall Mc Crory Cup and St Conor’s Girls Shield “Indoor Gaelic Football 5-a-side”competition took place recently in Omagh’s Station Centre. Schools from in and around the Omagh area entered teams which produced a high level of skill and ability from all involved. The event was organised by Liam Grugan from St Conor’s PS.
The format of the day’s play was based on two sections (1 & 2) of four teams. Section ‘1’ had St Conor’s Omagh, All Saint’s Tattysallagh, St Dympna’s Dromore and St Mary’s Killyclogher (A). Section ‘2’ consisted of Holy Family Omagh, St Mary’s Killyclogher (B), Christ the King PS Strathroy and St Ronan’s P.S. Recarson.
After a morning of ‘round robin’ matches within each section and a series of semi finals, St Dympna’s Dromore and St Conor’s qualified for the Conall Mc Crory Cup Final. St Mary’s Killyclogher (A) and Christ The King qualified for the St Conor’s Girls’ Shield Final. In the Girls’ Shield final St Mary’s (A) emerged victorious against a gallant Christ The King. Later in a thrilling Conall Mc Crory Cup final, a determined St Dympna’s defeated a courageous St Conor’s.
Mrs Mary Mc Crory, Conall’s mother, presented all finalists with their awards.
St Conor’s would like to thank the Mc Crory family for donating the Conall Mc Crory Cup in honour of a most treasured friend and former pupil of the school. Finally, our appreciation goes to the friendly and efficient staff at Omagh Station Centre.
